Here's a picture that I (Bryan) took at a rally.

July 1: I have now done two voter registration events, one door-to-door home-invasion style, and one bus stop assault-people-on-their-way-home-from-work style. (Because people are in a really good mood and have lots of time to spare on their way home from work. Don't ask me. I just work here.) Some people actually register to vote or express an interest in the campaign. Many people are already registered, thanks. Many people are dismissive, and I can really, really understand that. A few people are rudely dismissive, which seems a little excessive, but okay, I hate people like me, too. But two people have stood out.
Me (wearing an Obama t-shirt): Ma'am, I'm working for the Obama campaign. We're out here reg —
Potential voter: It's unAmerican to vote for that asshole.
Me: Ma'am, I'm just registering people to vote. You can vote for whoever you want.
Potential voter: Oh, I understand that, but it's unAmerican to vote for that asshole.
Me: I'm sorry to bother you, ma'am.
Potential voter: Obama '08 is Osama '09!
Me, walking to the next house with a furrowed brow.
My inner voice: "Did she just question my patriotism? Did she just question my patriotism? She just questioned my patriotism! What the hell? I thought that people like this were only on CNN and in Fayetteville!"
(I'd like to be clear that I did, in fact, say "I'm sorry to bother you, ma'am," even though that was not a very natural response. Also that, yes, I did continue to try to register her to vote even after finding out that she was not going to vote my way. I'd like to say that this was an expression of my deep commitment to civil rights, but in fact I'm just slow sometimes to catch up to angry dolts.)
Me (wearing a CBGB's T-shirt with a small Obama sticker): Sir, do you need to register to vote?
Potential voter: Not for him. (Progressing to growly, threatening tone). Get out of my way.
Me, stepping aside, wondering what part of 'register to vote' has this guy in such a partisan tizzy.
